The Orange Democratic Movement wants the electoral agency to push the gazetted date of fresh elections to either October 24 or 31 to give room for preparations.

The party's director of political affairs, Opiyo Wandayi, said the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commission must engage the Opposition as it seeks to enlist the suppliers and printers of ballot papers.

''We are an interested party and should be involved in the preparations for the elections,'' said Wandayi.

IEBC, he insists, must stop making unilateral decisions without involving NASA. ''They must engage us and not make changes assuming they are serving our interests,'' he said.

Top among the issues ODM wants is a change in the election date.

''The national examinations should not be an issue in the fresh polls. Let the examination officials organise themselves,'' said Wandayi.
