Joseph ole Lenku extends contracts of Kajiado chief officers

Kajiado Governor Joseph ole Lenku has extended the contracts of all county chief officers. This comes at a time when governors from various counties have sacked or suspended county staff.

The officers will remain in office for the next three months as the governor reorganises his government.

Mr Lenku said the contracts would run until November 30 and urged the chief officers to feel free to apply for the positions once advertised.

"We are one county and one people. We can't bring the operations to a halt; we are going to advertise those positions and this will be done in line with the law," said the governor.

Speaking during the familiarisation of the budget-making process, Lenku said the officers should remain in office until the entire process of advertisement, vetting and recruitment took place.

"I have asked those officers to continue serving the public," he said. "We must continue serving the public for better service delivery.

"We are going to work within the laws, policies and regulations as we prepare the budget and get moving with the job of serving the great people of Kajiado. The County Governments Act is very key," he added.
