Philippe Coutinho has asked to leave Liverpool after growing frustrated with the club’s hard-line stand on a potential move to Barcelona, according to a family member.
Reports emerged on Friday suggesting Coutinho had handed in a transfer request, although they were denied by Liverpool.
The midfielder has been the subject of two bids from the Spanish giants - £70million and £90m - but both have been rejected
And in a statement, a family member has claimed Coutinho is annoyed with the club’s refusal to entertain a move away.
“Philippe has tried very hard to find an amicable solution but to no avail,” the statement, released to Sky Sports News, read.
“He has tremendous love for the club and fans but as Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez have pointed out in the past, Liverpool does not let its players leave on amicable terms.
