IAAF World Athletics Championships: Kenyan sprinter Mark Otieno progresses in 100m

Kenyan sprinter Mark Otieno finished third in heat one of the preliminary round of the men’s 100m to progress to the qualifying round of the ongoing 16th IAAF World Athletics Championships in London.

Liberian Emmanuel Matadi won the heat with 10.27s, alongside Canada’s Brendon Rodney who came second with 10.37s as Otieno finished third with 10.40s.

Kenyan is traditionally known for its middle and long distance process, going to London the team lack depth in sprints, Mark Otieno, holds a personal best of time 10.14 seconds, which is a national record in the straight dash thus ranking ranked him at 38th among start lists in London and further 75th in the world. Otieno will definitely cherish a chance of being squared out in the same heat with retiring Jamaica Usain Bolt.
