The Ulinzi Stars coach has vowed that the team will bounce back from a two-match loss to Nzoia Sugar

The soldiers lost 1-0 to Nzoia Sugar just a few days after going down 2-1 to the same side at home. This has pushed Ulinzi to third spot on the log with 29 points.

Having been also knocked out of the GOtv Shield Cup by Sony Sugar, coach Benjamin Nyangweso insists all is not lost for his side and that they are still in contention for the Kenyan Premier League title.

“We were just unlucky in both matches, and particularly the second leg where we did not utilise our chances. We created many chances while our opponents had just one and scored in injury time after we had pushed them to the wall,” he said.

Nyangweso believes the two losses will motivate his team to bounce back to winning ways, considering that this could make a difference in their title ambitions.

“We have not lost our motivation to win the title. On the contrary, I believe this will motivate the team to win their next match, knowing very well that a third loss is unacceptable and may cost us the title,” Nyangweso added.

Elsewhere, Mathare United and Thika United won as the second leg of the KPL kicked off on Wednesday.

United beat Kakamega Homeboyz, winning just their third match this season and with it moved from the bottom of the log for the first time in a long time. The slum boys have had a tough season after several key players left.

Thika United edged out Chemelil 1-0 at home, handing new coach Nicholas Muyoti his first win since taking over two months ago.  But they remain at the bottom of the log and must keep their winning ways to avoid relegation.
