The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) now says it has acquired new infrastructure to ensure the August 8 General Election is credible and transparent.

IEBC chairman, Wafula Chebukati, revealed the audit of the voter register by audit firm KPMG was carried out on old ICT infrastructure hence the decision to replace it before the coming poll.

In a statement, Chebukati also intimates the commission has established a modern data centre, a secure database and further hired reputable companies to provide ICT technical support.

He was reacting to reports that IEBC is operating on vulnerable systems, adding that finances were already allocated for dealing with 13 ICT concerns captured in Elections Operations Plan 2015-2017.
