Police are interrogating two guards who were on duty when offices at the Siaya County headquarters were broken into on Saturday night. The burglars ransacked the offices of senior officials, including that of Governor Cornel Rasanga and his deputy, Ouma Onyango.

Deputy County Investigations Officer Benson Kasioko said the hunt for the culprits had been intensified. Several offices were broken into during the raid and vital documents carted away.

“I can confirm that there was a break-in and our officers have been to the crime scene and dusted it. We are working on a thorough investigation at the moment and we cannot give a lot of information yet,” said Mr Kasioko.

He said it was still too early to speculate on the motive of the raid. He added that the police were waiting for confirmation from the county employees what documents were missing.

County Secretary Dave Anyona said Rasanga's secretary had confirmed that all his documents were intact.
