Funyula MP Paul Otuoma's family has cautioned a close relative against issuing political statements on its behalf.

This follows remarks by Ofafa Ojasi, who at the weekend identified himself as Otuoma's father, and declared support for Governor Sospeter Ojaamong.

Mr Otuoma (independent) is seeking to dethrone Ojaamong (ODM) in the August elections.

Otuoma's grandfather Peter Ojiambo, 91, said that Ojasi was their family member but not its spokesperson.

Ojiambo termed Ojasi an opportunist and claimed he is supporting Ojaamong for his own selfish gain. But Ojasi insisted he has a right to speak on behalf of the family.

"In African setting, and Samia in particular, a brother to your father is a father not an uncle. Those saying I am not Otuoma's father are missing the point," he said.
