Spotlight Academy through to finals

Spotlight Academy defeated Njoro Day 2-0 in boys’ football to qualify for the finals of the Nakuru County Secondary Schools Term Two B Games at Jomo Kenyatta High School in Bahati yesterday.

John Kihanya put Spotlight ahead in the 13th minute for a 1-0 half time lead before Victor Ngume added the second goal in the mid second half.

Spotlight Academy who had not lost any match right from preliminaries had knocked out Rurii of Nakuru North 2-0 in the quarter-finals were scheduled to take on Kongoi in the final later last evening.

Spotlight George Otieno coach was confident he would go past Kongoi of Kuresoi and book a ticket to the Rift Valley Region Secondary Games in Kabarnet in Baringo County next week.

On their part, Kongoi had dismissed Molo Secondary by a solitary goal.

In the girls’ volleyball St Joseph’s Kirandich of Kuresoi South dismissed Shiners of Nakuru 3-0 (25-15, 25-13 and 25-17) in a one sided semi-final match on their way to face to face Kirobon Boys of Rongai in the finals.

Kirobon had dispatched Kipkoris of Kuresoi North 3-0 (25-14, 25-14 and 25-21).

In quarter-final matches, St Joseph’s Kirandich dismissed Coulson of Gilgil (25-17, 25-17 and 25-10) as Kipkoris ran over Lamudiac of Njoro by the same margin of 25-10, 25-25-22 and 25-19 with Shiners going past Mayela of Naivasha 3-0 ( 25-20, 25-17 and 25-21) and Kirobon thrashed PCEA Kambala 3-0 (25-13, 25-12 and 25-7).

In the boys’ quarter-final volleyball matches, Kongoi dismissed Nakuru Boys 3-2 (23-25, 25-14, 23-25, 25-19 and 15-7) in a see-saw encounter with Mema Secondary of Rongai winning 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 23-25 and 25-17).
