Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) national league newbies Divas Women Club coach Alexina Ambani says they are ready for a maiden appearance as league starts today at Nyayo Stadium.

Divas, which draws most of its players from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) women’s side that was dissolved last season, is looking to impress with Ambani confident they will finish in a respectable position at the end of the season.

“We have been training well for the season although we have challenges ranging from not training as a team and financial constraints. Most of the players are in their respective units and this has also affected training. But whenever we have a match, we assemble and honour it,” he said.

The KDF women’s team was dissolved last season to pave way for more military units to join the league but only Embakasi has joined the league.

“Most of our players have not played in the league but we are looking for an exciting season,” Ambani said.

Divas already have two trophies following wins in the Jamhuri Day Open and Makueni Open tournaments.
