Gideon Moi asks state to provide security for Muslims during Ramadan month

Baringo Senator Gideon Moi addresses Muslim faithful in Lamu

Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has urged the government to provide adequate security to Muslims across the country as they observe the Holy month of Ramadhan.

He said the Government must ensure security of its citizens regardless of religion, race and ethnic diversity.

Speaking in Lamu on Friday, the Senator asked Muslims to pray for peaceful elections.

“I wish my Muslim brothers and sisters peace and happiness. We ask them to dedicate their faith in prayers for the sake of our beloved country as we approach the General Election,” he said.

He wished them blessings, peace, joy and clemency as they begin the holy month of Ramadhan.

Gideon said the holy month is a time for spiritual reflection and devotion. Ramadhan is the only month in the calendar which the first verses of the Quaran, Islam’s Holy book, were revealed to Prophet Muhammad more than 1,400 years ago.

During the holy month, faithfuls abstain from eating, drinking, smoking and sex from dawn to dusk. This fasting is intended to bring them closer to God and remind them of the suffering of the poor.
