POLYCARP IGATHE: This is how I met Senator Sonko in the 90's

Polycarp Igathe , after being declared and receiving a huge backing from Jubilee Party leadership as Senator Mike Sonko's running mate, has spoken on how he met the flamboyant and philanthropic candidate for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.

The Vivo Kenya CEO, while on KTN News said he has had a cordial relationship with the senator for a long time and insisted they are a perfect pair to run affairs of the city.

During his unveiling as the technocrat to serve as the city's deputy governor if they dethrone Dr. Kidero in August, Deputy President William Ruto and National Assembly majority leader Aden Dale were present and affirmed that they would work together to ensure they defeated the Opposition's candidate.

Mr Igathe, despite having worked at the Kenya Association of Manufacturers as the chairperson said he sold Coca-Cola products around the city streets and could deliver his products using the company pick-up in the 90's and has excelled to become the sales manager.

He revealed that it is during his time in the sales and marketing department at Pilsner Kenya and when he worked at the East African Breweries that he made many friends that were in business, in what appeared to be a line of how he came to know of the Nairobi Senator.

Mr Igathe, recently on social media said he was ready to serve and that Nairobi can not be left to the clueless.

He used 'clueless' in this context to mean the people running the city’s affairs and not in any way meaning Govenor Kidero or the Senator who he would deputise.

He said he would be 'Mr Fix' for the ails of the city as they work with Sonko who he said opted to use his personal resources in helping the needy because the systems that are meant to help city residents failed to work as expected.

Govenor Kidero on the other hand seems not to be worried about the duo.

He believes it is the ruling party that is worried about capturing his seat and he is confident that he would retain it alongside his deputy Johnathan Mweke on an ODM ticket which he obtained from the party unopposed unlike Senator Sonko, who faced and defeated other candidates for the party ticket.

Bishop Wanjiru had sought being Sonko's running mate after the primaries and she is yet to speak on her next move after Igathe turned out to be most appropriate for Mr Sonko.
