Kakamega Homeboyz and Nakumatt shared the spoils after their match ended 1-1 in yesterday's Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos.

At Camp Toyoyo, Sofapaka also drew 1-1 with Bandari in another Labour Day fixture. It was not the kind of result the shoppers, who on Wednesday lost 2-1 to Tusker, were hoping for.

Nakumatt dictated the opening minutes of the Machakos duel and won an early corner, but Peter Nzuki's delivery went begging.

Nzuki delivered Nakumatt's first shot at the goal after he was awarded a free-kick in the 20th minute, but Sammy Okinda at the Homeboyz goal dealt with the danger.

It took Homeboyz half an hour to settle as they relentlessly pushed for the opener. However, the best they could get were three consecutive, but fruitless corners.

At Camp Toyoyo, there was a sense of urgency from both sides in the second half, but both sets of strikers were blunt in their attack. Charles Okwemba rescued Sofapaka at the death with a late goal to enable his side to pick up a point from Bandari.

Bandari looked to have run away with the match after Wilberforce Lugogo scored a penalty in the 89th minute. The porters were keen to bounce back from a 2-1 home loss against Gor Mahia and showed plenty of urgency.

Ugandan forward Dan Sserunkuma failed to beat Mathias Kigonya in his first attempt. The slow encounter saw Sofapaka pin down Bandari in the early stages.

Bandari brought in Shaban Kenga for Tyrone before Jacob Keli replaced Dan Sserunkuma as the porters looked for fresh legs to beat the Sofapaka backline.

The Batoto Ba Mungu were in trouble when Kennedy Oduor tackled Anthony Wambani inside his danger zone and the referee awarded a penalty, which Lugogo slotted home.

But it was not over and Sofapaka will once again thank Okwemba, who came to their rescue with a late goal.
