One crucial moment the retired Chief of Defence forces disagreed with President Uhuru and his Deputy William Ruto

The Deputy president some years back hinted that when they assumed office they really wanted to honor God in a special way by kneeling down as they were being prayed for.

According to him the most difficult thing to do was convincing the retired Chief of Defence forces by then Julius Waweru Karangi that they were going to kneel down as they were being prayed for.

Ruto said that Mr. Karangi objected the kneeling down saying that there is no way the commander in Chief can kneel down while the soldiers are standing and watching him.

Ruto further said that President Uhuru Kenyatta told the Chief of Defence forces to step back as they knelt down ready to be prayed for.

In addition, Ruto said that when he met Mr. Karangi the following day who told him that his wife told him (Mr. Karangi) that the most touching and the climax of the whole inauguration exercise was the kneeling down part because it spoke volumes to Kenyans about the leaders they had elected to office.

The Deputy President said that at the end of it all the Chief of Defence forces finally agreed that it was worthy kneeling down.

Ruto said that that was to show that beyond their political divides it was important for God to bring all Kenyans together so that they can work together for the glory of God and Kenya hence a prosperous country.
