Missing Kabete aspirant Chege Fresh found in Narok

Missing Kabete Parliamentary aspirant Charles Chege Gitau “Fresh” was Sunday found alive in Narok.

He was drowsy when he was discovered on the roadside by pedestrians.

Police said he was picked up and rushed to hospital and investigations into the incident launched.

“He told the first responders he remembers being pulled out of his car and from then he couldn’t recall further details,” said a police officer who attended to him.

Chege’s car was found with bullet holes in King’eero area, Gitaru on Saturday morning sparking protests among his supporters.

He was due to launch his campaign Saturday. Police said they are investigating the incident. His mobile phones were found in his car.

Police say it is difficult to take action against him because he or his people are the ones who reported the disappearance.

“In this case, he is the complainant. Unless you establish the gun used is his,” said another officer.

The officers who visited the scene said they collected two spent cartridges.

Protests broke out in Kabete after the incident was reported. His supporters blocked section of Nairobi-Naivasha highway and Gitaru Wangige Road in protest.

He is battling for the Jubilee ticket in the constituency whose current MP is Ferdinand Waititu.

His driver told police Chege had told him to go home on Friday night and leave him with the car.

Kabete OCPD Joseph Ongaya said they will interrogate the aspirant for more information.
