Bottom placed Zoo Kericho will on Sunday have another attempt to uncage itself from a poor start in the Kenyan Premier League as it faces Sofapaka.

With Sofapaka seeking to maintain its winning streak in this season’s KPL league, it will be an opportune chance for Zoo to redeem themselves from the cats’ claws at Zoo’s home ground in Kericho, Green Stadium.

Up to yesterday, Sofapaka were training hard insisting that they are not taking any chances.

“We may have two wins but our opponent have no point yet. Besides the game will be on their home ground so this does not make it any easier for us,” said John Baraza, the Sofapaka assistant coach.

While Sofapaka has won two games in the last four matches-losing one against Sony and having a 2-2 draw against Tusker, Zoo is still struggling to secure a win.

In its last four matches against Thika, Gor Mahia, Posta Rangers and Nakumatt, the new kids in the league have not been lucky to get out with a goal.

Formed in 2009 and twice failing to join the national league on technical grounds Zoo Kericho eventually made it to the topflight after KPL was expanded to accommodate 18 teams this year.

Zoo is struggling at the bottom of the league in the same bandwagon with Kariobangi Sharks, who unlike the tea boys, have managed a win with three goals.

Despite Zoo Kericho’s inexperience, Sofapaka’s Baraza said the team will front their best players to be assured of a third win.

Baraza said it is however after today’s training and an assessment of the players done, that the team to face Zoo will be announced.
