Two fishermen drowned in Lake Naivasha after their boat capsized at Tarambeta landing beach near Kasarani estate on Wednesday night.

A third victim was rescued by fellow fishermen and rushed to hospital after hanging onto a fuel tank for over five hours.

The incident comes barely a week after two fishermen drowned near Karagita landing beach while laying their nets.

The death brings to eight the number of fishermen who have died in the lake this year.

The search mission for the bodies was adversely affected by the thick water hyacinth that has invaded parts of the lake and lack of fuel for boats involved in the operation.
