No more misdiagnosis as new health equipment is launched

Kenyans can now bid incorrect medical diagnostics goodbye after the Ministry of Health launched a new centre of excellence to ensure all laboratory equipment are well maintained for quality and standardised results at zero cost.

 According to the ministry, most laboratories operating in the country give wrong medical diagnoses due to lack of proper maintenance.

Speaking during the inauguration of the National Public Health Laboratories, the Head of quality and Standards department at the Ministry of health Dr Pacific Onyancha said the laboratory equipment come with a lifespan and require calibration from time to time to ensure efficacy.

 "There is no programme on laboratory equipment maintenance in the country due to prohibitive costs," she said. She emphasised the pros of maintaining laboratory equipment sighting the extents and potential impacts of missed, erroneous or delayed diagnosis.
