The Makonde people are finally celebrating their affirmation as full citizens of The Republic of Kenya. The celebration is meant to celebrate their journey over the decades in trying to be recognized as a tribe in Kenya.

They came to Kenya in 1947 from Mozambique to work at sisal farms and sugar plantations in Kwale, Kilifi and Taita Taveta
