Kakamega MCAs are on a two-week break until March 28, when they are expected to reconvene for their final sittings before the August 8 elections.

However, they have been invited for a special sitting to be addressed by Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, who will give his State of the County speech before they take the short recess.

County Assembly Communication Liaison Officer Gilbert Ongachi said the recess would give members the opportunity to travel to Mombasa and participate in the upcoming annual summit for all MCAs.

The summit hosted by the County Assemblies Forum with support from the Senate and other development partners is an annual event that provides a platform for MCAs to deliberate over issues regarding devolution and the role of county assemblies among other matters.
