Taita taveta county hehealth workers on strike

Health workers in Taita Taveta County have gone on strike for allegedly being overlooked by the county government.

Marching from Wundanyi town to County Assembly buildings and Governors office on Friday morning, the health workers aired their grievances saying they have been overlooked for a long time.

" The county government has been overlooking us in many ways. No salary increment, job promotion and allowances." Said one of the striking health workers.

Despite presenting their priorities to the county government, the health workers say they have been taken for granted especially when it comes to county jobs advertising from the health sector.

"We are surprised to see nurses jobs only advertised. They are referring us as 'others' yet we're learned," decried one of the sources.

The health workers further claimed that the nurses are being given a lot of priorities yet they work hand in hand in service delivery.

The angry health workers refused to speak to any leader saying they were waiting for Governor John Mruttu outside his Wundanyi office to hear his statement concerning the matter.
