The senate will save us, says Mudavadi

Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has expressed his hopes in the senate, in ensuring that the controversial election laws passed by parliament are discarded.Musalia asked the senators to reject the Bill so the president doesn't sign it into law.

While addressing Vihiga county residents who had gathered at Mbale municipal ground to celebrate, Maragoli cultural festival yesterday, Mudavadi said that there was no need to change election laws without involving all the stakeholders. He said it is a sad affair seeing the country going to the direction it was headed to.

According to him, as politicians, they will not just sit and see things happening. The ANC leader further said that president Uhuru Kenyatta can no longer be trusted with the leadership of the country, that is why he sees the need for the opposition to join forces to send him home come next year. The former deputy prime minister also said that the president cannot be trusted with the law because he is fond of breaching agreements.

“You remember very well Uhuru promised to support me for the presidency as per the agreement we had, only to change his mind after two weeks," said Mudavadi.

Musalia hinted that he is going to work hard on the unity of the new political alliance against the jubilee party to ensure that there is good governance in the country. This comes as a number of politicians from the region led by Vihiga governor Moses Akaranga asked him to go for the topmost job in the country. According to them, Musalia is the preferred candidate who can unite all Kenyans.

Meanwhile, the Maragoli cultural festival is a big event in the region, that is used to bring all communities living in Vihiga county together and showcase their culture and traditions. The festival which usually organized by the Vihiga Cultural Society is normally held on boxing day in Mbale, the county’s headquarter.
