President Uhuru joins mourners at Dr Gecaga’s befitting funeral

President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta yesterday joined mourners at the burial of Dr Bethuel Mareka Gecaga at his farm in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

Retired Bishop of Mt Kenya ACK Diocese, Reverend Peter Njenga conducted the sermon and paid glowing tribute to the nationalist businessman saying he made enormous contribution to the country’s economy.

 “This man belonged to the industrial world. He did a lot for the growth of our nation,” said the retired bishop.

He was eulogised as a stickler with respect to strict time-keeping, good civil manners and issues of personal integrity.

Dr Gecaga served as chairman of various companies, including long-time executive chairman of British American Tobacco, Nation Newspapers, Kenya Airways, Commercial Bank of Africa among others.
