Narok herder loses 50 sheep and goats to a hyena

Residents of Maji Moto village in Narok South pondering their next move after a wild animal suspected to be a hyena mauled over 50 goats and sheep after breaking into the pen.The owner of the livestock Parwat Kool said the predator crept at around 2am in the morning when they were asleep.Cases of human-wildlife conflicts have been rampant in the area as drought persist.PHOTO:ROBERT KIPLAGAT

A pastoralist in Narok South incurred Sh400,000 in losses after a hyena killed over 50 sheep and goats yesterday.

Parwat ole Kool and his son Michael Kool are staring at starvation after the livestock, which is their only source of livelihood, were killed by the wild animal which had been wreaking havoc in Maji Moto village.
