I am best suited to lead this country, Mudavadi says

Amani National Congress Party (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has said he is best suited to lead the country.

Speaking during the launch of ANC voter registration campaign in Likuyani and Lugari constituencies in Kakamega County yesterday, Mr Mudavadi promised to offer inclusive leadership devoid of tribalism.

“I am not vying for gubernatorial seat as my detractors are claiming. I am in the presidential race. I believe ANC is the party that will unite Kenyans,’’ he said.

He also lashed out at Opposition politicians who have branded him a spoiler, saying the presidency is not a reserve for any person and it is his democratic right to vie for the seat.

“Somebody should not imagine that western is a stronghold for a certain party and that my candidature is irrelevant yet at his home turf no one can challenge him. I am not a spoiler for anyone because in the last polls, I was the only aspirant from western region,” said Mudavadi.

The former deputy premier said since the inception of multi-party no one can be an outright winner when contesting the presidency for the first time. “Former President Kibaki won on his third attempt while won Uhuru Kenyatta after contesting twice. Raila has made four attempts and he is yet to win. So what is the problem, I have only tried once?” he posed.

Mudavadi urged the Luhya nation to have confidence in one of their own instead of being misled by outsiders. The ANC leader further claimed the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission was favouring Jubilee strongholds in voter registration.
