MP tells Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto to Keep off Narok affairs

Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng'eno has accused Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto of attempting to protect his Narok counterpart Samuel Tunai who is facing allegations of misuse of county funds.

Speaking at Masantare Primary School, Ng'eno told Mr Ruto to keep off Narok issues.

"Governor Ruto has been trying to incite people especially from the Kipsigis community against leaders demanding for accountability from governor Tunai," said Ng'eno, who was accompanied by Narok Senator Stephen ole Ntutu and area MP Korei ole Lemein.

He warned that Ruto's scheme to "silence them" would not succeed because they have the backing of the people and they had a duty to demand accountability from the governor.

"I have been in this battle before and I won. I have faced the same challenge before and I emerged the victor. No amount of intimidation will deter me, not even from hirelings from Bomet," said Ng'eno

During the burial of Samwel Kiptesot Sang in Transmara East sub-county, Ruto called on the Emurua Dikirr MP to quit Ntutu's camp and support for Tunai.

The Bomet governor said it was wrong for Ng'eno to criticise Tunai's administration, yet the governor has been at the forefront in protecting the interests of the Kalenjin community.

Damning report

Ruto said Ng'eno should stop antogonising Tunai and instead work with him for the sake of development.

Tunai has also come under a barrage of criticism after a World Bank report ranked Narok County among devolved units with the least development spending.

Lemein said it was unacceptable for the county to be ranked at the bottom and yet it has enormous resources.

The MP said the finding were a pointer that all is not good in the county.

"The report says that Narok County used only 10 per cent of the funds allocated to it," said Lemein.

Lemein said it was ironical that governors were asking for an increase in funds to 45 per cent yet they could not use the funds efficiently.
