Former world cross country champion Lornah Kiplagat launches female sports apparel

First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and elite athlete Lornah Kiplagat hold up one of the apparels that forms part of Lornah Sports wear during the launch of the clothing line at the Galleria Shopping Mall in Nairobi County.

Former world cross country champion Lornah Kiplagat yesterday launched her sports clothing line in Nairobi in a ceremony presided over by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.

The Lornah apparel sporting line, billed as Africa’s first exclusively tailored female sportswear, was praised as a “landmark initiative” by the First Lady and the galaxy of elite sports personalities at the ceremony.

Taunet Nelel (new beginning) hit song music celebrity, Emmy Kosgei who graced the occasion, described Lornah’s clothing line as another “new beginning”.

The male version of the Lornah clothing line will be launched next year.

The First Lady said she immediately “fell in love” with the sports apparel when it was first introduced to her by Lornah last year during a High altitude training session in Iten.

She described the apparel as a ‘true gift for African women’.
“What attracted me to this apparel is the fact that it is the first uniquely African brand. It’s a beautifully made brand, and that it’s a brand for our women,” said the First Lady. — PSCU
