Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria apologises over social media hate speech

NAIROBI: Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has issued an apology over hate speech remarks attributing terrorism to certain communities.

“I regret my comments. To the extent that I attributed terrorism to certain communities, I regret and apologise” Kuria said at the NCIC offices.

The utterances were on Kuria’s social media pages.

Kuria has also agreed to place an apology in all major newspapers and also issue another verbal apology at a public forum.

This follows reconciliation efforts by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC).

Kuria had applied for reconciliation in court after the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) sued him over the remarks.

The MP agreed to issue the apology after being summoned by NCIC on Monday.
