Nakuru Police officer, athlete in child custody row

NAKURU: A police officer based in Nakuru and his ex-lover, a marathoner based in Eldoret, were Wednesday each given seven days to respond to a child custody case filed at the Nakuru Children’s court.

Job Oyagi, who is based at Kasarani police lines in Nakuru moved to court in November last year seeking orders for legal and actual custody of his biological son born in February 2011.

He accused his ex-lover, Winfridah Mochache, of neglecting the minor and exhibiting hostile and abusive conduct towards the child.

Oyagi told court he cohabited with the athlete since 2010 until their separation in September last year. But Mochache said their separation was prompted by constant violence.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judicaster Nthuku Wednesday ordered the two to file responses to each other’s applications for hearing next Tuesday.
