It has been a week of heated debate. And no, I am not annoyed because the country has finally got round to discussing the crucial matter of national security, just days after more than 64 people were massacred by Al-Shabaab militants. I am annoyed because everyone is reacting to the wave of insecurity in a knee-jerk fashion. We have lost all sense of perspective, cool and respect for our country.
First, we are not having a sober debate about it. The unions and politicians are asking people to move out of affected areas, as if that is a permanent solution even when we all know the enemy would love to attack us from any corner. So instead of soberly asking ourselves what we need to do, the politicians have decided to answer that question with an eye not on solutions, but the 2017 polls.
