Car found with 280kg of bhang

Police in Rongai, have in their possession, a 280kg load of bhang found in a vehicle at Sobea along the Kisumu-Nakuru highway.

The bhang, valued at Sh500,000 and packed into 1,953 bags, were stashed in the boot of a Toyota Noah and was believed to have been on transit to Nairobi from Kisumu enroute Nakuru.

Car trouble

"There were three occupants in the vehicle coming from Kisumu towards Nakuru town when its lights allegedly failed. They stopped at Sobea trading centre where they asked for a mechanic," Rongai acting OCPD Joseph Karanga told The Standard.

The OCPD said the mechanic, who was demanding Sh18,000 from the suspects, was forced to take the vehicle to Sobea AP camp after the suspects fled.

"Officers at the camp discovered that the vehicle had bhang in its boot and the rear seats. They later transfered the vehicle and the loot to Rongai Police Station," he said.
