Kabarak School praises science, math contest

Nakuru, Kenya: The annual Moi High School Kabarak Mathematics and Sciences contest has over the years positively contributed to the improvement of the subjects’ performance in national examinations.

Speaking at Kabarak High School yesterday, the Contest Co-ordinator Omondi Otieno said the event that brings together different schools across the country has had tremendous results. The contest is sponsored by Brookside Dairies.

“Since we started the contest eight years ago, we have seen Kabarak improve in the final result to the current 11.3 mean score from 9.6 eight years ago,” added Mr Otieno.

This year’s contest, he said, saw a total of 80 schools from Rift Valley and other parts of the country avail over 3,000 students to participate. The winners will receive a one-year fully paid scholarship.

Otieno, a mathematics teacher at the school, predicted that the current Form Four class will triumph nationally in mathematics, saying they have prepared well after being in top 10 in last year’s KCSE examinations.

The school’s Acting Principal David Sugut hailed Brookside Dairies for the support, adding that it has immensely contributed to the school’s good performance.
