Form Two student kills son after conditional marriage promise

Nakuru, Kenya: A Form Two student is being held at Kuresoi Police Station for allegedly poisoning her eleven- month-old baby in Kibirika village.

According to village elder Michael Tonui, Caroline Chepng'eno, a student of Mutukanio Secondary school, killed the baby boy after her lover promised to marry her on condition that she gets rid of the child.

“The suspect decided to poison the baby after her lover promised to marry her without the child,” said Tanui.

Relatives and villagers rushed to the scene to rescue the baby but he died as they prepared to take him to hospital.

Tanui said angry villagers gathered at the homestead baying for the student’s blood but was rescued by village elders who took her to police station.

The body was taken to Molo district hospital for autopsy.
