Maendeleo leaders want truth on land

Kilifi,Kenya: Officials of the Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organisation (MYWO) in Kilifi County want past office holders to account for two pieces of land they claim were allocated to the organisation by the Government several years ago.

Ephie Chari, a local women rights activist, claimed the two pieces of land were allocated to the local MYWO but there are no records to back this ownership. “I am sure the plots could not have been lost if the former officials had been holding regular meetings,” said Chari.

The issue was raised during a meeting at the Kilifi CDF nursery compound yesterday.

Former MYWO, Kilifi County chairperson Sarah Chitavi confirmed that they were allocated the land but “private developers” took them over.
