Modern farming plan for arid residents

Kwale, Kenya: The National Drought Management Authority has started a programme to train residents of drought-prone areas to enable them embrace modern agricultural methods.

This was disclosed yesterday by the authority’s chairperson Agnes Ndetei after inspecting Mtaa goat and Mwabila dam projects in Kinango, Kwale County.

She said drought cannot be stopped but can only be mitigated if citizens are taught to embrace projects that can ensure they are food secure.

Ms Ndetei urged Kenyans to stop relying on donor funding and initiate income-generating projects.
