Chinese charged in a Nairobi court for fraudulently obtaining money

Nairobi, Kenya: A Chinese has been charged in a Nairobi court with obtaining over Sh 4.4 million from a local company  by false pretense.

The Nairobi Senior Principal Magistrate Melissa Opondo heard that the accused Caixian Xiong  on November 5 last year and January 4 within Nairobi County jointly with another  not before court obtained sh 4.4million from Magolink X-Press Distributors limited by falsely pretending that they  were in a position to import blankets on behalf of the company, a fact she knew to be false.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges, and was ordered to deposit a cash bail of Sh 500,000 and a surety of Sh 1 million.

The case is set to be heard on June 4.
