AP surrenders after killing colleague

Muran’ga,Kenya: An Administration Police officer shot dead his female colleague in Murang’a under unclear circumstances.

Initial reports indicate the female officer was shot after she allegedly declined to share a Sh50,000 bribe they had received from a suspect they shielded from prosecution over undisclosed crime.

Corporal Lydia Ndiruka was shot by the constable at Gachocho AP post.

The two reportedly had an argument as they headed for duty.

It is also alleged the slain officer had accused her colleague of defiling her nine-year-old daughter.

The officer is said to have been infuriated by the claims and turned the gun on his colleague.

“We heard gun shots only to find the corporal lying dead as the assailant fled. We later heard that he had surrendered at Kigumo Police Station,” said an officers at the camp.

Ndiruka has been the only female police officer listed as a head of a police camp in Murang’a County.

Kigumo Deputy OCPD Juma Londoh said further investigation would be launched and that the officer would be arraigned in court soon after the Criminal
