Kenya’s Kaycyy Pluto wins first Grammy

Kenyan rapper kaycyy Pluto, born Mark Mbogo has his career on a meteoric rise since breaking into the scene.

In the just concluded 64th annual Grammy Awards, he waved the Kenyan flag, highly scooping his first-ever Grammy nod, for his penmanship on “Hurricane” by Ye feat. Lil Baby, The Weeknd - for the Best Melodic Rap Performance, where his vocals also feature impressively.

Taking to twitter, Columbia Records, where Kaycyy is signed to, showered congratulatory messages to Kaycyy for the special recognition.

“God.. Thankyou for so much.. Ima thank you out loud as many times as I remember to” he tweeted. “HURRRRRICANEEEE OMG! I KNEW U WAS A SPECIAL ONE!! PRAISE GOD MANNN ! Wowww” Kaycyy wrote in a separate Tweet.

Kaycyy was born in Kenya but moved to the United States when he was 9. He started music after influences from the church when he was 10 and moved to New York to chase his dream full-time at 18.

His zany melodies have caught the ear of renowned music producers and artistes that sell millions of records, while his song-writing ability is acclaimed to be amazingly thoughtful and imaginative.

He also rewrote history a while back when he became the first Kenyan to chart on the US Billboard Top 5 Charts after Ayub Ogada achieved the first Top 10 for being sampled on Kanye’s ‘Yikes’ off 2018 album, Ye.

Kaycyy has worked with numerous A-List artists such as Lil Wayne, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, The Weeknd, Lil Baby, Kehlani among many others
