The land, sea, and air borders of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) will be closed on Wednesday as the country will hold general elections, the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) announced on Tuesday.

According to a statement by the DGM, the DRC's air, land and sea borders will be closed on Wednesday from 0:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. local time to allow the country to calmly organize the general elections.

Domestic flights will be suspended, except for international flights at international airports, the statement added.

Presidential, legislative, and local elections will be held throughout the DRC on Wednesday.
