Nairobi Kenya: Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has declared Tuesday November 28 as a public holiday to enable Kenyans to attend President-Elect Uhuru Kenyatta’s inauguration.

This is as new details emerge that the ritual of handing over the instruments of power and authority will not happen during the ceremony.

“Since the President-Elect is also the Incumbent President, the ritual of handing over the Golden Sword of the Commander in Chief and the Presidential copy of the Constitution will not take place,” Chairman Assumption of the Office of the President Committee Joseph Kinyua said in a statement.

The Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Amadi is expected to administer the oath of allegiance and due execution of office where after Deputy President William Ruto’s oath will follow.

Members of the public and dignitaries attending the function are expected to have arrived by 8am at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani before the forenoon event.

After being sworn in, President Kenyatta is expected to give his inaugural second term speech which pundits argue will largely be aimed at healing and uniting the nation.
