Two held for trafficking a 14-year-old girl for sexual exploitation

Two suspects of a human trafficking racket between Kenya and Uganda have been arrested in Bokwo district, eastern Uganda.

A Ugandan man and a Kenyan woman were apprehended at a lodging in Suam and a teenager girl who they had traded for sex exploitation, rescued. The girl, 14, had been preyed from Kimondo area in Trans Nzoia county and taken to Uganda where he was handed over to a man for sex business.

Trans Nzoia County Commander Lillian Okembo said the suspects were arrested by Ugandan authorities after a tip off. Okembo said the girl was lured by the Kenyan woman and promised a well paying job in Uganda when she was caught by the trafficking web.

“The Ugandan government handed them to us and we are interrogating them,” Okembo said.
