NAIROBI, KENYA: Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi on Tuesday named outgoing Ndaragwa Mp Jeremiah Ngayu Kioni as his running mate.

While making the announcement, Mudavadi said that he had selected a running mate who knows and  can handle issues of Kenyans.

"I have consulted extensively in selecting a running mate, there were many options," said Mudavadi.

Amani coalition was the only alliance that had not named its running mate after Martha Karua on Monday announced that Augustine Lotodo would deputise her in the race to statehouse.

Eagle Alliance presidential candidate Peter Kenneth named Ronald Osumba as his running mate last week, an announcement that surprised many who had hoped that former Rarieda MP Raphael Tuju would be the deputy.

Jeremmiah was elected as MP for Ndaragwa in 2008
