Pastors should spare us the drama

Looking at their faces, you can see hope, determination and zeal. They have faith as they node in hushed tones, heeding to their message, the pastor makes an outstanding sermon. This is a group of women in Bungoma town (traders and passersby) who as if they are soldiers listening to their commander for instructions to execute a duty.

Since time immemorial women have been vulnerable creatures and the number one victims of “men of God”. They believe what the pastor tells them more than their own families or husbands. In fact many have changed their lives greatly (to the worst). Imagine your wife, daughter, mother or sister who used to be a darling to social, comic jokes, changes drastically because she has been manipulated by a certain pastor in the neighboring village and now she is less social and will never entertain your jokes as she used.

Furthermore, men of God now days have lost courtesy. I recall on one Monday taking a walk in Kisii town and my attention was caught by a man who was purporting to spread the gospel. His main target was business people (women of course) because a man in his senses will not entertain such. His teachings left traders in awe of shock because he was not communicating anything anyway. Being anxious, I stayed. Ten minutes later, the man started collecting sadaka. "Ndugu tolea Mungu" he was heard saying. He could often frown when his 'worshipers' refused to give out the offering.

It is also worth noting that they are usually armed with blackmail and impotent threats. The man of God could lash threats as weaponry of mass destruction. "If you don't give offering, your business will definitely close down" he threatened. "Let it close down" one tough headed trader replied amid cheers from other traders.

When prayer time ushered in, it was more fun. At first he ordered, them to kneel down and raise their hands. Women were so subjective and did as they were ordered. What followed to me was like martial art techniques, all in the name of worshiping God.

I'm not biased but truth to be told let Godly issues be a pressure of few chosen other than diluting and misconception of  the whole concept of Christianity.
