A man who pleaded guilty for stealing electric cables from a hospital has been sentenced to community work.

Joseph Musungu, 38, appeared before a Kakamega court charged with theft.

The court heard that on June 21 at around 11pm, Musungu stole the cables valued at Sh4,800 resulting to a blackout.

The watchman managed to nab him and reported the matter to police.

Musungu pleaded for forgiveness claiming this was his first time to steal.

“I stole so that I could sell the cables to scrap metal dealers. Kindly, forgive me,” he pleaded.
