Neglect of boys to blame for vice

Leaders in Central Kenya have attributed the sharp rise in drug and alcohol abuse among the youth to the neglect of boys.

The leaders said a lot of attention was being given to girls, leaving boys with unchecked powers to do what they wish.

This emerged during celebrations to mark the International Day against Drug and Illicit Trafficking in Engineer, Nyandarua County.

Those present said there was need to check on boys, who have now been thrown into the den of alcohol and drug abuse, leaving them with no future.

Nyandarua Deputy Governor Waithaka Mwangi, who presided over the ceremony, said alcohol consumption had ruined the lives of many, especially in Central Kenya where many had been turned into zombies.

He called for concerted efforts from all stakeholders to fight the vice.
