Father assaults son over Sh10,000 loss

Moyale, Kenya: A father tried to slit the throat of his son in Manyatta area, Moyale on Thursday over loss of Sh10,000.

Ayala Dofa allegedly picked a kitchen knife and confronted his 24-year-old son in their house in Lami village after he failed to get the money.

Police on Thursday evening arrested Dofa and he was to appear in court yesterday to face charges of assault.

Moyale OCS Richard Ng’eno described the attack as a domestic dispute.

He said the victim Hussein Ayala was rushed to Moyale Sub-County Hospital following the incident.

The OCS said police on patrol responded swiftly and rescued him. Mr Ng’eno urged residents to resolve disputes through dialogue.

“We have to avoid taking the law into our hands because it might lead to death,” he said.
