Turkana Central MP tells Asman Kamama to step down or risk being voted out

Turkana, Kenya: Turkana Central Member of Parliament, John Lodepe has called upon the National Assembly’s committee on Administration and National Security chairman Mr Asman Kamama to step down or risk being voted out on vote of no confidence.

He was speaking at a lodge in Lodwar where he expressed his dissatisfaction on the way the committee and the security personnel were handling the insecurity matter in Turkana-Pokot border.

“Asman Kamama should step down or wait for a vote of no confidence from chairmanship because he is partisan and has not been able to help those affected by insecurity within the two counties,” Lodepe said.

He added that he is saddened by the number of lives that have and are still lost along the border yet leaders keep quiet and do nothing about it.

“I am sad that my people are dying like dogs along the border. Are we not Kenyans too? Why don’t leaders tell their people to stop the barbaric actions?” the MP queried as tears welled in his eyes.

The MP said that the leaders from the region will hold a meeting to discuss the way forward but threatened that they may choose to change political course if nothing is done soon.

“There is no need of being in government yet we are not receiving any help,” Lodepe said.

He urged that the government should work in haste to sort the insecurity problem in the region. He also called upon IG Kimaiyo to deploy enough security in the region as planned.
