Family tortured as their daughter raped in Athi River attack

Athi River, Kenya: A family was attacked and tortured by a gang that also killed their two dogs at Samora estate in Athi River Wednesday night.

The gang of three armed with AK 47 rifle and knives first broke both hands of the couple before raping their daughter aged 26 in the Wednesday night attack.

The motive of the incident is yet to be established but police say they are investigating it.

According to police, the gang is said to have first poisoned two dogs that were in the compound before they proceeded into the house where they gained entry through a window.

They then beat up the three victims before they broke the couple's hands and later gang raped the daughter. The man is aged 56 and woman 50.

According to Athi River OCPD Kizito Mutoro, who visited the scene, the gang robbed the family of Sh3,000, three mobile phones, an ATM card, assorted household goods and a number documents they ransacked in the house.

He said they also recovered a bullet head in the compound an indication the gang fired into the compound.

Other witnesses said the raped woman managed to drive her parents to a hospital in Nairobi where they were all admitted.
Senior officers visited the scene of the attack and vowed to track down the gang.
