Two injured after petrol tanker rolls

Two people were seriously injured when a tanker transporting petrol rolled along Ol Kalou-Nakuru road on Friday.

Among the injured were the driver and the conductor of the vehicle who have been admitted at JM Kariuki memorial hospital in Ol Kalou with serious injuries.

The driver is said to have been negotiating a corner near Nyairoko river when he lost control of the vehicle and hit a ditch.

"This is a very sharp corner and the driver seems to have likely lost control of the vehicle leading to it rolling," said Rurii ward county representative Wahome Kamoche who was at the scene.

He noted that the two were saved by good Samaritans who rushed them to hospital.

Kamoche noted that the tanker started spilling petrol attracting hundreds of residents who wanted to siphon it.
"We immediately alerted the police who moved in to save the situation. Luckily, the crowd agreed to our calls and no ugly incident happened," he said.

He urged residents not to rush to such scenes to avert death like it happened last weekend along Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
