Volleyball giants and some of Kenya’s finest players are set to renew their rivalry as the third leg of the National Volleyball League starts tomorrow to Sunday in Kilifi County.
This will be the first time ever for Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) to host a national league in the county. KVF acting Secretary General, Ben Juma, said they would be spreading the sport to major towns.
Juma said all arrangements have been finalised and teams are expected in Kilifi today ahead of the event.
“Kilifi County Government has partnered with the federation to host the event. Governor Amason Kingi is expected at the event,” said Juma.
He said Kilifi County Government has refurbished the Bukungu Stadium, formerly Karisa Maitha stadium, which will be the venue for the event.
Prisons Kenya alongside Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), General Service Unit, Administration Police, Co-op Bank and Kenya Ports Authority are some of the favourites in the men’s competition, while arch-rivals Prisons and Pipeline are expected to renew their rivalry in the women event.
Nairobi Water and Kenya Commercial Bank are also expected to produce stiff competition.
The official further said there would be a national beach volleyball event at the same venue.
Teams for the beach volleyball will be unveiled during the KVF third leg tournament.
